Husband Surprises Wife With Lunch Covered in Mayo After Ten Years Of Her Saying She Hates It
In what experts are calling “a stunning failure of listening comprehension,” local husband Mark Reynolds surprised his wife, Dana, with a homemade lunch on Tuesday—generously coated in mayonnaise, a condiment she has explicitly hated for the entirety of their ten-year marriage.
“I just thought she might like it this time,” Mark said, presenting the sandwich with the confidence of a man who had retained no relevant information since 2014.
Dana, who has reportedly said “I hate mayo” at restaurants, barbecues, grocery stores, family gatherings, and while making eye contact with Mark over an open jar of mayonnaise, stared silently at the meal before asking, “Have we met?”
According to sources close to the couple, Mark defended the decision by explaining that he “only used a little,” despite the sandwich producing an audible squelch when lifted.
Marriage counselors say the incident falls into a common category known as “weaponized forgetfulness” or, in severe cases, “condiment-based betrayal.”
At press time, Mark was asking Dana if she wanted ranch on her salad.
